The danger of distraction

Over the last several years one of the popular topics of discussion in our society is that of distracted driving. It is obvious that driving while distracted is incredibly dangerous. A quick Google search will reveal just how dangerous distracted is.

Over the last several months, there has been a lot on my mind. One of the things that keeps reverberating through my mind is regarding the danger of distraction. Things seem to be so busy in our culture and world today.

I have been thinking about how our priorities in life get mixed up. As we go about our lives it seems we get mixed up with things that really don’t matter.  In fact, we get so distracted the things that are the most important suffer.

When was the last time that we turned off our cell phones and focused on our families? What would happen if we turned down that overtime shift and spent time with our spouse, or children? I believe that we really need to stop and refocus.

I guess the point of my thought tonight is this, are we distracted? What are we focused on, and in the end, does it really matter? Let’s put the things that matter first! Keep the main thing, the main thing!
